Turnbull Trophy Rally entry list …
Yes, I know it’s in Englandshire, but this Sunday’s (7th July) Blasting Magic Turnbull Trophy Rally is also a counter in the BLUE Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship, so a dose of our lot are going abroad this weekend to participate.
A full Entry List is printed below with top seed Peter Taylor leading the charge in his Ford Focus WRC having won it last year in his Renault Clio. The event is sponsored by Blasting Magic which has nothing to do with pyrotechnics or sleight of hand, but is involved in the blast cleaning industry. Owner Neil Prior is a rally driver (currently between cars!) but it’s nice to see a competitor putting something back into the sport, much like our own (adopted!) Kieran O’Kane who is supporting the BLUE series.
After 5 rounds (of 11), Ian Forgan currently leads the series (87 points) from newcomer Steven Hay (78) in his Corsa, Gordon Halley in the MkII is third (76) from Stuart Bailie in the Impreza (70), Stuart Walker in the Lancer (69), Ross McCallum in the MG Maestro (68), Kieran O’Kane in the Ascona (67), Scott Russell in the Corsa (62), Linzi Henderson in the wee Peugeot 107 (57), and Colin Gemmell in his Subaru (56), so it’s all close enough for things to change dramatically this weekend, especially since Forgy cowped the Ka big time at Crail last time out!
The venue is the old Ouston Airfield at Albemarle Barracks which is about 11 miles east of, and slightly to the north of Hexham, just off the B6309 at Ouston, and just north of the cross-roads between the B6309 and the old Roman road B6318. Look out for the arrows. Do not try and enter via the camp main gate!
First car is away at 09:30 Hrs.
