… Beatson’s Building Supplies Reivers Rally, 29 May 2022 …
The entry list for this weekend’s Beatson’s Building Supplies Reivers Rally is poised to serve up a real feast of motor sporting entertainment going by the quality of the top twenty. And it doesn’t stop there, ‘cos there’s more than a few folk running behind them who will be worth keeping an eye on, like Kyle Adam and Stuart Egglestone not to mention Steve Banister and Des Campbell.
For those intending to spectate, don’t just hang around for the top ten or top twenty. There’s a couple of Land Rovers right at the back which will be giving their old cart springs some severial abuse!
There are just six stages for this third round of both the KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship and the Burnside Piling Contractors Scottish Tarmack Championship and the compact nature of the route means it will be short, sharp, sweet and awfy, awfy quick. The first car will leave the Duns Square start at 10.00 and is expected to return for the finish soon after 14.00 Hrs.
David Bogie heads the mouth watering line-up ahead of the returning Euan Thorburn while Dale Robertson who finished third on the main event in 2019 runs at three. Michael the ‘Mitsubishi Magician’ Binnie runs at four in a car which has been giving the World Cars and R5s a serious run for their money just ahead of Freddie Milne with another old-school wizard Jock Armstrong at six in the Subaru. But really it is unfair to single out anyone in such a hot entry.
However, there is one concern. Considering Scotland’s first World Rally Champion came from Duns, there are only seven lady drivers in Sunday’s 120 car entry list. We all hoped that when Louise Aitken Walker won the FIA World Rally Ladies’ Cup way back in 1990 that more would follow in her wheeltracks. C’mon the girls!

Now although the seeded Entry List is printed in full below this may not actually be the running order on the day. The whole point of seeding is to have faster cars and more successful crews running ahead of slower cars and less experienced crews to minimise the chances of cars being caught in the stages. No seeding is ever perfect and the Organisers may well change the on the road running order before the rally start – so print this off and stick it in your pocket or save it to your mobile phone screen for quick referral.
