… Kingdom Stages Rally, Crail, Sat 2nd Nov …
The final round of this year’s Cobble Shop STRC will be the Kingdom Stages Rally at Crail, this Saturday, the 2nd November. The first of 6 Special Stages is scheduled to get under way at 08.30 Hrs.
Picking a winner is going to be about as easy as catching Ott Tanak’s Toyota on a bike. Heading the entry is 6 times winner of this event John Rintoul, but seeded behind him is the winner for the past two years, Alan Kirkaldy, while at number 3 is twice winner Alistair Inglis.
So that’s 4WD modern R5 technology up against old-school RWD machinery and the mid-engined lightweight Plastic Fantastic. But here’s the thing, all three will have to keep an eye out for young Greg running at number 4 and if Richard Sutherland can keep the lary Manta pointing in the right direction perhaps him as well. And what of young Retson in the R2T, he might spring a surprise while the fast improving Kyle Adam is well worth a watch.
In fact, the whole entry promises a feast for the ears and eyeballs with a huge variety of cars taking part.
As for the championship title race itself, it looks to my untrained eye to be straight shoot-out between Greg Inglis with 128 points and Kyle Adam with 127. Colin Gemmell is currently 3rd, but he is in the position that he has scores to drop while Des Campbell is the same so it doesn’t look as though they could improve their scores sufficiently to challenge for the title.
