… Beatson’s Building Supplies Mull Targa Rally, Sat 13 Oct …
Keeping ‘the Mull motorsporting Weekend’ alive is the Beatson’s Building Supplies Mull Targa Rally which will run this Saturday the 13th. The rally will start from Victoria Street in Tobermory on Saturday morning at 10.00 am. After the first loop of tests, there will be a lunch halt at Duart Castle providing a dramatic backdrop to the setting. The second loop will take competitors back round many of the same tests on the way to finish in Tobermory around 4.30 pm with the prizegiving later that evening at 8.00 pm in MacGochan’s. Last year there was an interesting array of Targa rally ‘machinery’ which added to the spectacle including a few ‘recycling yard’ evaders which still had current MOTs!
The emphasis was on fun and sporting enjoyment and doubtless the same mood will prevail this year. The organisers will be publishing a Spectator Guide on their website and Facebook page so look out for that if you’re heading across the watter. With goodwill and a bit of luck, things will be back to ‘normal’ next year, so fingers crossed.
There will be a Time Trial on Sunday the 14th with the emphasis more on speed than panache, so lookout for more information to come on that.
