The organisers of the Prestone British Rally Championship have announced their events and calendar for next year. No mention of rejected events but they have added a new event to the series in October next year! The full text of their announcement is below. There’s also news from the Isle of Man who are seeking Marshals for their event next month. It would appear that there are deals to be had for anyone heading over to officiate from £35 a head. I don’t know the full details but it must be worth a look if you have your MSA Marshals Accred, see end of release below:
… 2018 Prestone MSA British Rally Championship
All BRC roads lead to the WRC*
Today’s calendar announcement confirms the six rallies that will make up the 2018 Prestone MSA British Rally Championship. Six rallies that will offer the diversity for which the BRC is famed, a great sporting challenge for the drivers and spectacular action for the fans.
Border Counties Rally – 10/11 March
We start in March with the Border Counties, an event that was parachuted in at short notice this year and more than delivered in Jedburgh. Plans are progressing well for our first event in just seven months’ time.
Pirelli International Rally – 28/29 April
A completely revised Pirelli gave us a battle that went down to the last stage for overall victory and a Junior category that was decided by less than a second. The finish in Brampton was a great celebration at the end of a superb weekend of rallying.
Renties Ypres Rally – 29/30 June
Everyone raved about our visit to Ypres back in June, so of course it’s back on the calendar. We may not get temperatures in the mid-30s again, but we will enjoy a real fan-festival around the Belgian town. It will be 40 years since Tony Pond won in Ypres and over 300 items of memorabilia have already been collected for a special exhibition in Grote Markt Square.
John Mulholland Motors Ulster Rally – 17/18 August
Which takes us to almost exactly a year from now when we will again head across the water to the John Mulholland Motors Ulster Rally to go head-to-head with the Irish Tarmac Championship regulars in fierce competition and good craic.
138.com Rally Isle of Man – 13/15 September
The Isle of Man is steeped in motorsport history and the small island in the middle of the Irish Sea has often caused drama to many a British Rally Championship campaign. The three-legs are always hard fought and 2018 138.com Rally Isle of Man is sure to be no different. There may be some more news to come on this event in the next couple of months to add to the anticipation!
Dayinsure Wales Rally GB – October**
A new final round, we end the 2018 season in Wales with the UK’s premier event. Dayinsure Wales Rally GB, the longest event on the calendar, will be split into two points-scoring events and will pit the BRC against the might of the WRC regulars. Who will be celebrating come Sunday afternoon in Llandudno?
We have moved quickly to get the 2018 dates out as early as possible and the BRC team is working hard behind the scenes to create great opportunities for all registered competitors in 2018, particularly for overall and class prizes. There will be a lot more news to come on 2018 before the year is out!
*calendar is subject to approval by the MSA
**date to be confirmed by WRC Promoter & World Motor Sport Council

One more thing … it would appear that there are some special deals going for Marshals (plus info for spectators) who wish to attend and officiate on the ‘138.com Rally Isle of Man’ next month on 14-16 Sept.
The organisers have put together a package for visiting marshals, starting from just £35 for the weekend, full details can be found on www.rally.im at:

I don’t know what the packages are (but they sound good) cos you have to register on-line and I ain’t signing up for owt, so go look for yourself if you’re interested in going over. By the way, if you haven’ t been, it’s well worth a look.
