29 Mar: DCC Stages Rally enty list

… DCC Stages Rally, Ingliston, 1st/2nd April …

Ingliston will once again resonate to the sound of competition engines this weekend with the second round of the Blackwood Plant Hire Championship on Saturday (1st April), and on Sunday (2nd) the first round of the J1000 Ecosse Challenge Championship for the 14-17 year old stars of the future.

The only drawback to the Ingliston venue is the fact that due to insurance restrictions NO SPECTATORS are allowed on either day at these events. If you want to attend then you need to officiate, marshal or be officially servicing with one of the competing crews. This restriction will be more rigorously enforced than in the past due to considerable construction work currently underway on site. To that end there will be no servicing allowed inside the circuit perimeter, instead a new area has been designated outside the showground where crews will be allowed to pitch camp.

That’s a great loss to the sport as the top ten looks really quite tasty with current champ John Marshall heading the capacity field in his 4WD Subaru from Alistair Inglis in the lightweight 2WD Lotus. John Rintoul should have his new Fiesta on hand followed by Nigel Feeney now Mitsubishi mounted as opposed to the Subaru. Alan Kirkaldy in his Escort Mk2 and Ian Paterson in a Subaru round off the top six but there could be a few surprises further down the field with ‘international’ appeal!

From across the Atlantic Ocean, well, just a wee bit of it, comes Mull resident James MacGillivray in a Subaru, Tom Hynd’s got a German MINI and Ross McCallum’s Honda VTEC engined MG Maestro is always good for loosening the wax in yer lugs!

The rally gets underway at 09.00 Hrs on Saturday with the first of 8 stages and on Sunday the youngsters get a lie-in – they start at 09.30 Hrs. They also get 8 stages but they are shorter than the previous day’s routes for the Seniors.

Oh, and ‘Incredible Edibles’ are providing the catering, but how come a salad roll is 50p dearer than a roll and sausage? That’s no way to encourage healthy eating, eh?
