… Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship …
Rd04, MACH 1 Stages, 2/3 July …
The fourth round of the 2016 Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship in association with Blackwood Plant Hire hits the roads and runways of Machrihanish Airfield this weekend with over 100 cars heading to the Mull of Kintyre.
The action kicks off on Friday afternoon at 4pm with Scrutineering opening at Rally HQ. At 6pm there will be a static car display at the Campbeltown ferry terminal till 8pm where locals and spectators can come and have a look at the cars as ask the drivers any questions. The event’s co-ordinator will also be present to answer any event queries anybody has.
A Marshalls training evening has been organised in the officer’s mess to comply with the new MSA regulations and rule changes. This will run from 19.00hrs till 21.30hrs.
Scrutineering is also available on Saturday morning with the airfield gates opening to the public from 10am.
The First stage is due to start at 12 noon running till around 18.30hrs, with the Sunday stages starting at 08.30hrs till 13.15hrs.
A social evening has been arranged in the officer’s mess on the base with a carvery being served up by Argyll Bakeries – and a bar. The organisers have also arranged their very own local DJ Jamie Gee who has supported the event for the last two years which will be banging out all his 80s classic hits.
Please bear in mind that due to the size of this venue it’s all too easy to overlook your speed. Everyone please remember that there is a 10mph speed limit on site as there will be a mixture of other traffic and spectators walking about. This will be strictly monitored.
As with speed limits within the venue, the rally organisers also request that all travellers treat the road trip down with the utmost respect and consideration of the supporting community and take all litter with you and adhere to the speed limits. Information has been received that Police Scotland will have an increased presence of both marked and unmarked vehicles patrolling the route.
