This year’s event will run over the weekend of 2nd – 4th May counting towards the MSA British Rally Championship and the Mintex British Historic Rally Championship.

Rally HQ and the service area will be hosted at Brunton Park with the start and finish in the City Centre, and all within walking distance of each other.

Organised by Cumberland Sporting Car Club, the event works closely with the Richard Burns Foundation which does a tremendous job raising funds for research into astrocytoma, a particular virulent form of brain tumour which claimed the life of the 2001 World Rally Champion. Richard was also, in 1993, a previous winner of the Carlisle based event, so the rally has a close affinity with his memory and the organising team will be going all out to better the £5,000 they raised for the foundation on the 2013 event.

In addition to the main championship event, the support events will offer a cheap and affordable opportunity for the clubman competitor to enjoy the same classic Kielder stages as competitors in the main event. The organisers have come up with two innovative and compact National B events that will be sure to appeal to the clubman offering fantastic value for money and the opportunity to rub shoulders with the established British Championship regulars.

The Saturday (May 3rd) National ‘B’ event will feature afternoon Scrutineering and Start and an overall route of just 95 miles. There will be 3 stages totalling some 27 miles of Kielder’s best stages, the whole package coming at a very reasonable £299.

The Sunday Run (May 4th) will be preceded by a Saturday evening Scrutineering session and a morning start which will see competitors heading for Kershope Forest for 4 stages totalling 32 competitive miles. There will be roadside servicing to keep the overall distance to a minimum and save time and the event will finish at lunchtime, enabling an early start for home. The entry fee for this event will be £359.

Now comes the great news for competitors who wish to do both events, the organisers are offering a cut price package for just £559, that’s less than £560 for almost 60 miles over the finest rally stages in the country, a really competitive deal that is sure to be of interest to numerous drivers.

Entry details are on the Pirelli Carlisle RB Foundation Rally website, together with information on the other events in a packed programme of rally action along with details of all the other activities taking place as part of the rally weekend.
