Dates for 2014 British Historic Championship announced …
For lovers of polished rust and worn chrome, the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship has announced its dates for next year’s (2014) series and there’s only one confirmed round in Scotland. The Jim Clark is out and the Isle of Man Rallee Classicagh is in, although the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally remains on the reserve list in case any of the others don’t run.
Two of the favourite rallies on the national calendar – the RSAC Scottish Rally and the Rallee Classicagh Isle of Man – are included in the events that will make up the 2014 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
Subject to final ratification by the MSA, the 2014 BHRC will offer registered crews eight rounds of the highest quality, beginning with the Mid Wales Stages and finishing with a high profile South Coast finale at the Rally Sunseeker Historique, watched by thousands of spectators.
Both ‘newbies’ are well-respected, high profile rallies that pride themselves on organisation and stage mileage of the highest order. The RSAC Scottish Rally, based in Dumfries, always throws down a mighty challenge to drivers and co-drivers as they race through the nearby forests. At the Rallee Classicagh, crews can look forward to over 100 stage miles on the island that lives and breathes motorsport. Once again, the Colin McRae Stages will be the championship’s invaluable reserve event.
“This year’s British Historic series has made tremendous advances, attracting increasing numbers of competitors to a very competitive series fought out in a friendly atmosphere,” says BHRC Chairman, David Lucas. “For 2014 we intend to raise the profile of the championship even further, bringing in new and exciting rallies to complement the existing events. All in all, it adds up to what we hope will be a brilliant 2014 season full of superb quality and variety.”
